Vietnam VS India – International Friendly Match Preview

-

The Indian National Team will face a stern test from their Vietnamese counterparts tonight in what is set to be a game of redemption for India who unfortunately shared points with Singapore in in their last match in the Hung Thinh Friendly Tournament last Saturday. It is a must win encounter for the Men in Blue and as previously pointed out by Coach Igor Stimac,

“They (Vietnam) have a good team and are playing at home, which is why they are probably the favourites, but we also have a good chance as we have a young squad… I think we have enough quality to match them, and if we stay positive and play with a good mindset we can do it.”

The Blue Tigers would look to capitalize on the International Break by winning this tournament and after last match’s shock result they must give it their all to seal a victory against hosts Vietnam led by South Korean coach Park Hang-Seo.

Head to Head Record

India have faced Vietnam on 13 occasions. The Men in Blue have managed to pick up 8 wins out of these thirteen matches while Vietnam have won 3 times. The two sides last faced each other in 2010 in another International friendly where hosts India emerged as the winner.

Match Predictions

Although Vietnam seem to be the favourites in the tournament due to their form (also having advantage of being hosts) it is expected that the Blue Tigers will give them a tough time and slot in a goal or two. Taking into account history and the head-to-head records, India would seem to be the preferred winning side but Hang-Seo’s men are not to be taken lightly. They won four-nil against Singapore and are hungry for another strong victory.
