FC Goa have officially announced the signing of 36 years old Spanish Forward Igor Angulo
Born in Bilbao, Angulo Started off his career at Athletic Bilbao. The forward also went onto represent CD Numancia, Real Union and Gimnastic De Terragona in Spain. Outside his Native land, he sojourned in France and Cyprus and in 2014/15 Season, Angulo moved to Greece where he spend two years. After Showcasing his talent with Greek Outfits Apollon & Platanias, Angulo earned the switch to Polish Side Gornik Zabrze.
The veteran striker spent the last 4 seasons in Poland with Gornik Zabrze, where he was the club’s top goalscorer in all 4 seasons. Angulo has netted a staggering 88 times in 154 games for the 14-time Ekstraklasa Champions and has been amongst the top 2 goalscorers in the Polish league for three consecutive seasons. In 2018/19 season, Igor Angulo bagged the golden boot award for scoring 24 goals in the Polish Ekstraklasa.
After leading Gornik’s Promotion charge in his debut season to helping them establish as a regular in the Ekstraklasa, Igor Angulo’s legendary spell with Gornik is over now as he has penned a one year deal with Juan ferrando’s FC Goa.
Igor Angulo despite his age promises a lot of goals for FC Goa. The Spanish attacker hasn’t put a foot wrong after his move to Poland becoming one of the highest scoring foreigner ever in the Polish Ekstraklasa. Although it remains to be seen how well he adapts in India, The record breaking striker will be a serious threat for the other ISL teams and will be FC Goa’s lethal weapon in the AFC Champions League.
With the Capture of Igor Angulo, chances of the ISL’s Top Scorer Ferran Corominas staying at the club are at an all time low. FC Goa have already secured the services of Sanson Pereira, Makan Winkle Chothe and Radeem Tlang. The Spaniard Igor Angulo is the club’s first overseas signing of the season.
