The 19 year old former Indian Arrows striker Abhijit Sarkar has signed for Quess East bengal for the upcoming season.
The Kolkata giants who were the runners up of the previous Hero I-League campaign has recently started their pre season camp for the upcoming season.The youngstar is their sixth signing of the summer as they have already roped in ISL stars Boithang Haokip and goalkeeper Lalthuammawia Ralte on loan from Bengaluru FC and FC Goa respectively.They also signed Pintu Mahata and Abhisekh Ambekar from Mohun Bagan and Naorem Tondomba Singh from Neroca FC.To strengthen the defence line up, Spanish defender Marti Crespi from Delhi Dynamos.

The Red and Golds are mainly focused on promoting the youth talents into their first team.As a result,they signed their six academy graduates for the senior team.Senior team’s assistant coach Bastab Roy will be in charge of the youth team along with his former duty.
After Jobby Justin’s departure there has been a void in the striker position and it seems that they may not sign any foreigner striker ahead of Calcutta Football League.So, Sarkar who can play as a striker as well as an attacking midfielder will boost the forward line up.

Abhijit Sarkar,born in Bandel,West Bengal has represented India in several age group levels and started against USA and Columbia in the group stage matches of 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup.Shortly after he joined the AIFF youth developement side Indian Arrows and scored 4 goals in the 2017-2018 I-League and was the top scorer for his team.He joined Chennaiyin FC but he was loaned back to his former team where he played 4 games for them scoring a single goal.
The West Bengal born starlet was a target of the Red and Golds but East Bengal failed to rope him in last year. Sarkar, who has now fulfilled his dream of playing one of the big clubs in the city, will be waiting to show his talent in the upcoming Durand Cup and CFL. East Bengal will be facing Army Red on August 3 in the Durand Cup 2019.
