Mumbai City FC has roped in 21 year-old-left back Akash Mishra from Hyderabad FC, club has officially announced.

Akash Mishra Transfer Mumbai City Hyderabad FC

Akash Mishra is a 21-year-old national team defender who has been constantly making his name on the chart as one of the best players in the country. His prowess to operate on the left flank earned him a national team call-up last season and has been a regular for them ever since.

He is a young prospect who was wanted by current Indian Super League champions Mohun Bagan Super Giant but eventually, Mumbai City FC won the race to grab his signature. The team owned by City Football Group was desperate to bring in a quality left back much needed for the system to operate efficiently. They also have the AFC Champions League matches coming by and the addition of a player like Akash will boost their level of competitiveness.

Akash Mishra who hails from Uttar Pradesh comes through the ranks of U Football Academy from Germany and has been a part of the setup from 2015-18. His first professional contract was penned down when he signed for the now-defunct Indian Arrows project and made his debut in Hero I-League against Shillong Lajong during the 2018-19 season. He made 23 appearances for them in I-League and his performance got the eyes of ISL side Hyderabad FC which was the breakthrough move of his career.

He made his debut for Hyderabad FC the following season against Odisha FC and since then donned the jersey of the Nizams for 68 times scoring three and assisting four. He immediately sealed his place in the starting line up alongside Ashish Rai and Nikhil Poojary on the right flanks during last season’s.

He made his senior National team debut against Oman in an International friendly and since then has worn the jersey 15 times being the first choice trusted wing-back for the Igor Stimac side.

A player like Akash Mishra who is very young under the banner of CFG will have much bigger opportunities ahead for him to explore himself to the next level or continental competitions and Des Buckingham will possess one dangerous weapon on his hands to take the team forward.
