ISL – Odisha sign Givson Singh from Kerala

-

Odisha FC has completed the signing of Givson Singh from Kerala Blasters FC, IFTWC can confirm. The midfielder has also started training with the squad in Odisha.

Givson was inducted into the AIFF’s Elite Academy after graduating from the renowned Punjab FC’s youth setup, where he spent three years between 2016 and 2019. Later, he joined the Indian Arrows, and during his one season there, he made 16 appearances, making a contribution of two goals and two assists each. The 21-year-old has made several appearances for the Indian youth sides, including at the U-16, U-17, and U-19 levels. In 2018, he helped India in reaching the AFC U-16 Championship quarterfinals and competed at the U-19 level against nations like Russia, Saudi Arabia, and Uzbekistan.

After a productive stint with the Arrows, Givson signed with Kerala Blasters for the 2020–21 ISL season. With only 53 minutes of action throughout the entire season, the youthful midfielder found it difficult to crack into Kibu Vicuna’s starting eleven. He made four appearances for Kerala the next season as well, totaling 97 minutes of playing time, as the season too failed to bring him any luck either. Givson had, however, signed a three-year contract extension with the Blasters prior to the start of the season, despite his minimal playing time.

Even though Givson was a consistent member of the club’s youth team that competed in the RF Development League last season, the minutes at the senior level remained the same for him. He was ultimately loaned out by Kerala to Chennaiyin FC earlier this year, and now the midfielder, who had a quiet time at both the Southern clubs, will join Odisha FC.

Odisha FC in the transfer market

The Juggernauts, under new coach Sergio Lobera, has done considerably well in the transfer market to reinforce their midfield for the upcoming season. Apart from signing Ahmed Jahouh, they have added the likes of Puitea, Lenny Rodrigues, and Lalliansanga Renthlei. Joining them would now be Givson Singh, who will hope that his career finally takes off under Lobera, after showing much promise in his youth days.
