Jamshedpur FC are all set to complete the signing of Rakshit Dagar on a free transfer, IFTWC can confirm.
Rakshit Dagar, who joined Gokulam from Sudeva Delhi last year, was the team’s first-choice goalkeeper last season, making twenty-four appearances. The 29-year-old began his career at United Sikkim before joining the now defunct DSK Shivajians. After his brief stints with Minerva Punjab and East Bengal, Dagar gradually established himself in the I-League as one of the safest pair of hands.
In his eighteen appearances for the team last season, the goalkeeper conceded just 15 goals while also recording seven clean sheets. Rakshit has also won the I-League twice; the first time was with Punjab in 2018 followed up with Gokulam in the previous campaign.
Rakshit will thus be introduced to the Indian Super League for the first time after Jamshedpur FC was impressed by his strong showing in the I-League.
The Red Miners already have TP Rehnesh, who is coming off of a very strong season, in their team. Rakshit will therefore be on Rehnesh’s tail and will need to work hard if he intends to be included in Jamshedpur’s starting eleven.
Aidy Boothroyd had previously agreed terms to coach Jamshedpur in the forthcoming campaign, and the recruiting team has been scouring the market to strengthen their side. They have already brought in midfielder Sheikh Sahil from ATK Mohun Bagan, Germanpreet Singh from Chennai, and Pratik Chaudhary from Bengaluru FC. They did however lose Mobashir Rahman to East Bengal, and Greg Stewart has signed with Mumbai City FC for the upcoming campaign.
