East Bengal are in talks to sign defender Scott Neville from Brisbane Roar.
Since the introduction of the compulsory Asian player rule which mandates clubs to have atleast one AFC player in their squad, the attention of most of the clubs have turned to Australia, and East Bengal is no different.
After James Donachie, Branden Inman, Joel Chianese and Jacob Tratt officially announced by their respective clubs as their Asian signing, ISL’s new entrants East Bengal are looking to get the signature of Brisbane Roar defender Scott Neville, IFTWC can confirm.
Our source close to the developments said, “Neville is very athletic, strong and fast. At Brisbane Roar he was a starter under Robbie Fowler. He will be the first choice Asian signing for Fowler. As the Shree Cement directors said that they will allow the coach to choose the players, Neville is one of the main targets of the coach.”
Few days back reports emerged that former Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler is set to be named as the head coach of East Bengal for the upcoming season of ISL. Fowler was the head coach of Brisbane Roar in the A-League where they finished 4th on the League table. Neville can play as a centre-back and a right-back too. At 31 years of age, Neville comes with a lot of experience playing in the A-League and also the AFC Champions League. He has played in the youth teams of Australian National Team too.
