Edu Garcia signs a 2 year contract extension with ATK – Mohun Bagan

Spanish midfielder Edu Garcia has penned down a 2 year deal with the ISL Champions.

ATK – Mohun Bagan have been very active in the transfer market. They have already announced the contract extension of Roy Krishna, Prabir Das, Pritam Kotal and Jobby Justin.

Edu Garcia scored 6 goals and grabbed 3 assists last season for ATK. He was a supersub for the Champions. Edu played crucial role for ATK in the later part of the season and scored in the final as well. Edu gelled well with Fijian star Roy Krishna whenever they played together.

Edu joined ATK from Chinese club Zhejiang Greentown. Edu Garcia once made headlines in Indian football when the same Chinese club Zhejiang Greentown paid high transfer fee to lure him from Bengluru FC. Edu scored Bengaluru FC’s first ISL goal in the 4th ISL season. Before joining Bengluru FC, Edu plied his trade for Zaragoza, Ebro and Ejea. He is a product of Zaragoza academy and played for their reserves in the initial days of his career.

ATK have won the ISL 3 times and the merger with Mohun Bagan makes the team from Kolkata even more stronger. They have started the preparations robustly. As per reports, They are also targeting veteran forward Anthony Stokes who has played for club like Sunderland, Crystal Palace and Celtic. Meanwhile the club is trying to offload Salam Ranjan and Boris Singh.
